Dr. Miyabe Shields, PhD is a national and international award-winning cannabis scientist. In 2010 Miyabe began researching drug discovery at UC Davis. After graduating with a research citation award and a BS in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Miyabe completed their PhD in pharmaceutical sciences specializing in the endocannabinoid system at Northeastern University in 2018 during which they received multiple accolades including a research award at the International Cannabinoid Research Symposium and completion of the MIT IMPACT fellowship. Since then Miyabe has been in the cannabis industry working with the Cannabis Center of Excellence creating curriculum and performing demographic research before co-founding Real Isolates LLC, a natural products research technology company studying the chemodiversity of cannabis smoke. Miyabe is now a part-time farm hand at Maitland Mountain Farms in Salem, MA and cannabis consultant specializing in diversity, equity, science communication, and medical applications.
