My friends and family have been asking me about drugs long before I got my PhD in pharmaceutical sciences. The safest answer to questions about any drug will pretty much always be “just say no,” but that’s not realistic nor helpful whatsoever. My hope is to provide the much-needed middle-ground information that exists both in our communities and in molecular theory. There are absolutely risks to using any drug (including prescription meds, caffeine, and alcohol). We already know many ways to minimize them. When more of us understand these core concepts, our communities will be safer and we will be one step closer to destigmatizing alternative medicines. More about my stance on substance use in society…
